Disclaimer:

This is the second of 2 blog posts on morning routines!

If you haven’t read the first one, please click here! Last week’s post provided an in depth look at morning routines and the value they provide.

Benefits of a morning routine

So, following on the heels of last week’s post read it right here on the definition, usefulness, and the importance of a morning routine, let’s get into the benefits of a morning routine.

  • Discipline – Though we may view the word ‘discipline’ in a bad way. We all need discipline through structure, strategy, and planning. Many of us do not plan, strategize, or organize our lives. This leaves us coasting and existing for days, which turn into weeks, then months, and eventually years.

This type of living has left many people filled with regret, disappointment, discontentment, scarcity, and eventually wishing for a do over.

Disclaimer:
Before we get started with this post, this topic will be discussed across two back-to-back post because of the importance of this topic.

Do you have a morning routine?

Do you have a morning routine? Or do you roll out of bed, rush to get dressed, and race out the front door?

Or are you a night owl? Even being a night owl can give you space to prepare for the next day.

A morning routine, as the name suggests, is a routine or habit that you practice every morning upon waking.

But let’s face it, everyone is not a morning person (I am, but my husband isn’t). This habit/routine can be done the night before. The goal is to build a routine that fits your lifestyle, schedule, and personality.

Do you think you have self-awareness?

Developing self-awareness should be an important skill in our lives. The simple fact is you cannot change what you don’t know about.  If we have no self-awareness, we have no control over ourselves; we have no control over our thoughts, behaviors, habits, relationships. In essence, we have no control over our lives.

What is self-awareness?

Self-awareness is a skill that allows us to monitor ourselves, and in turn, monitor our lives.

Self-awareness allows us to explore and learn about who we are, what we care about. This skill helps us to learn about what makes us, us. Self-awareness helps us to identify the thoughts we have, and over time, it helps us identify our thought patterns.

The stereotype of  “the angry black woman” has inspired many GIFs and quotes that only serve to perpetuate the stereotype and show how deeply embedded it is in the fabric of the American society and other communities.

Black women threaten the fabric of society. Labels are used to strip us of our power and beauty. Click To Tweet

Is Anger A Bad Emotion?

But let’s break this down…Is anger a bad emotion? No, it is not…

Anger is a normal human emotion. It is a part of the human experience. Society has already taught us that when we are uncomfortable with things, we should try our best to isolate it and put it in a tightly closed box.  The fact is that…Black women threaten society. Yes, I truly believe that we do. The description of the phrase “The Angry Black Woman” is only used to restrict us, label us, and place us in boxes that remove our internal power.  This is a powerful statement because black women have so much power; but sometimes, we tend to misuse it and sometimes we let others turn it against us.

7 Ways to Hear from God

I think that we’ve all, at some point or another, wondered whether God truly exists. And we’ve all wondered, if He does exist, does He care about me?

I know that for a long time, I believed He existed, but I believed that He only wanted to punish me for the wrongs I knew that I had done. After finally letting go of my fear, and embracing my search for Him, I begun to see that He had been present all the time. The truth is God is with you, whether you think He is there or not. I also began to see that He is always speaking to us, but we tend to get in our own way.
